This website has been in the works for quite a while.  It's hard to find the time to work at the computer, but  I have a lot of information that I would like to share about dairying.  Even though we love milking, it's a very complicated business to manage and takes a lot of time and energy.  There are so many aspects and so much to learn.  So far, we just have basic information about us and our farm on this site, but I hope to continue to add information, stories, diagrams, pictures, instructional videos, a glossary of farm terms and anything else that might help things go a little more smoothly for anyone else who wants to milk or learn about milking.  When you get dairying in your blood, you just can't help yourself. :) I am lucky to have a family who is very supportive and knowledgeable about milking and I hope to pass this on to others.

I am grandmother of the Philippi kids, Jenny, Drew and Evan. I grew up in Williamsport,PA. A long time ago. But I remember it well.
We lived on the east edge of town, right next to the small farms to the east. North of us were hills and forest and beyond those, more larger farms.
I have always been proud that my father and mother owned their property - an acre of land. That is right - an acre. We had fruit trees and grew all our vegetables.
And we had all the eggs and roast chicken that our neighbors and our own family could eat. My grandfather, David, lived with us. That is another reason to be proud. He is the only grandparent whom I knew and I remember him.
Granddad and my father kept chickens, 200 or 300 at a time. They were white Leghorn chickens.
The price of a dozen eggs would range between .20 cents and .32 cents. This was during the Great Depression in the 1930's and early 1940's. pgh
